We’re thrilled to announce a powerful addition to our ranks: Laura Dilimetin, a lacrosse trailblazer hailing from Manhasset, NY, and a proud Bucknell University alumna, is officially joining Team Armenia!
Imagine this: a player whose journey began with the very first girls’ lacrosse team at Manhasset High School, shaped by the legendary Coach Pam Monfort. Laura’s passion for the game only deepened at Friends Academy under Coach Jackie Gow. Her dedication didn’t stop there; she continued to ignite the love for lacrosse in NYC post-collegiate leagues and spent six years coaching her daughter Hannah Rubin’s PAL team in Manhasset.
But it’s not just about the game for Laura. It’s about the heart. “Lacrosse has taught me invaluable life lessons,” she shares. “Being part of Team Armenia is an honor, a way to honor our ancestors and gift this incredible sport to our Armenian youth.” And the excitement is palpable! “The chance for Armenia to compete for a spot in the 2028 LA Olympics SIXES game? That’s beyond thrilling!”
What does this mean for Team Armenia?
“Laura will be pivotal in managing our Armenian National SIXES program, working alongside our women’s coaching staff,” explains Johnny Mouradian. “Her expertise and unwavering love for her Armenian heritage make her an invaluable asset.”
More Than Just Lacrosse:
Laura’s connection to her Armenian roots runs deep. From her formative years at Holy Martyrs Church in Bayside, NY, where she attended Sunday and Armenian school, to her adventures at Camp Nubar and the Armenian Ski Club, her commitment to her heritage is clear. She even spent a summer in Venice, Italy, at San Lazarro, immersing herself in Armenian language and culture.
Her dedication continued into her professional life, founding the Armenian Club at St. John’s School of Law and serving on Parish Boards at St. Vartan Cathedral and Holy Martyrs Church. For nearly 20 years, she practiced law alongside her father, Anthony K. Dilimetin, and remains deeply involved with various Armenian causes, including the Armenian Bar Association.
A Family of Champions:
Laura’s passion for excellence extends to her family. Her daughter, Hannah Rubin, a standout goalie, led Manhasset High School to a New York State Championship in 2022 and now plays for Bowdoin College. Hannah even spent last summer in Yerevan, Armenia, interning at Foldink, working on cutting-edge 3D organ printing research! Her son, Noah Rubin, an Elon University business student and AGBU Discover Armenia Program alumnus, also carries the torch of Armenian pride.
Laura, her husband Adam, Noah, Hannah, and their loyal yellow lab, Hailey, call Manhasset home.
Join us in welcoming Laura Dilimetin to Team Armenia! Her experience, passion, and dedication will undoubtedly elevate our program and inspire future generations of Armenian lacrosse players. Let’s rally behind her and our team as we aim for the stars in 2028!
