Matt Keresteci – Captain for Team Armenia

Barev/Hello,

My name is Matt Keresteci (formerly Kerestecian) and I’m a 26-year-old from Toronto, Canada who is honoured to be one of the first captains of Team Armenia Lacrosse. I started playing lacrosse when I was 6 years old and after my first season, I knew I was hooked.

Toronto Beaches Lacrosse Club

I played rep lacrosse for the Toronto Beaches Lacrosse Club for 12 years and at my high school, St. Michael’s College School, for four years on the Varsity Team where we were back to back provincial champions and I was a Senior captain.

Most recently, I played 5 seasons as a member of McGill University’s Varsity team, during which we won 2 CUFLA East championships and made the Canadian National Tournament 3 years in a row. Now, I’m ecstatic for the next chapter of my lacrosse career – representing Armenia on the national stage!

About a year ago, I had the privilege to travel to Armenia for the first time through the
Birthright Armenia program where I ultimately lived for six months, volunteering in a number of areas and living with a host family; I returned at the beginning of May.

It was a life changing trip for me to be able to connect with my Armenian heritage, establish relationships with fellow Armenians and to contribute to the country’s continuous development efforts.
