In 2012 he led the program’s transition to the NCAA Division I level continuing to coach for the next six years. In his last year,  2017 Michigan recorded its first winning record, first national ranking, and first top 10 win.

“My grandfather’s last name, when he immigrated to America in 1905, was Boghosian. I was raised with a strong sense of Armenian culture and history through my father’s side of the family. If he was still alive today, I know my dad would be so proud to know I have this opportunity to represent Armenia as a coach of the men’s Sixes team” Explains John, “It’s amazing to see how quickly the Armenian lacrosse programs have come together, and I can’t wait to see what we can do together on the international stage.

After college coaching, Paul was one of six inaugural coaches in the Premier Lacrosse League, coaching the Atlas which included league founder Paul Rabil. As a player John Paul was the captain at Michigan for three years and was the first Wolverine drafted to play professional box with the Detroit Turbos in 1990. Paul also has extensive international coaching experience, most notably working with the University of Tokyo lacrosse program over 25 years. Before coaching, Paul started his career in athletic administration at Michigan, focusing on development/fundraising. He now spends his professional time, when he is not getting outdoors in the mountains with his family, on various projects, including consulting, clinics, public speaking, TV and serving on several boards.

“Armenia Lacrosse has two fantastic, high-level player centered coaches,” Shares Founder Johnny Mouradian, “Tyler Hall and John Paul have the knowledge and expertise necessary to lead our Armenian SIXES Men’s National Team on our quest for a spot in the LA 2028 Olympics.”
