From the birthplace of the Armenian alphabet to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, a new initiative will combine faith, history, and sport through a 12-day journey across Armenia.

From August 11 to August 22, Armenian Lacrosse and Daily Bible Readings will travel throughout the country, stopping at some of Armenia’s most significant historical, cultural, and spiritual landmarks. The initiative is designed to strengthen community ties while celebrating Armenia’s Christian heritage, national identity, and growing youth sports movement.

The road trip reflects Armenian Lacrosse’s broader mission of using sport to develop leadership, teamwork, and character while deepening connections between Armenia and the diaspora. Alongside lacrosse programming, each day will feature a public Bible reading at a site representing a different chapter of Armenia’s history.

The 12-day itinerary includes:

• • August 15 – Khor Virap Monastery

• • August 16 – Saint Mesrop Mashtots Church, Oshakan

• • August 17 – Vayk Stadium

• • August 18 – Geghard Monastery

• • August 19 – Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, Yerevan

• • August 20 – Monument of Jesus Christ, Mount Hatis

• • August 21 – Akhtala Monastery Fortress

• • August 22 – Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Vagharshapat
    

The selected locations trace Armenia’s story through its faith, scholarship, resilience, and national memory. Stops include the Matenadaran, home to one of the world’s largest collections of ancient manuscripts; Tsitsernakaberd, honoring the victims of the Armenian Genocide; Khor Virap, where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned before Armenia became the first nation to adopt Christianity as its state religion; and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The inclusion of Vayk Stadium also reflects the organization’s commitment to expanding opportunities for young athletes and growing the sport of lacrosse throughout Armenia. Armenian Lacrosse has steadily expanded its grassroots programs while developing national teams that represent Armenia in international competition.

By pairing Scripture with places that have shaped Armenia’s history, the organizers hope to encourage reflection on the country’s spiritual and cultural heritage while strengthening relationships between local communities, athletes, and members of the diaspora.

The road trip will conclude on August 22 at Holy Etchmiadzin, bringing together twelve days of travel through sites that have defined Armenia’s past while looking toward the next generation of faith, service, and leadership.
